FOCUS 2015

FOCUS 2015

Focus refers to our vision and goals for a particular year. Our aim is to direct our attention and concentration to those particular goals in order to make a substantial improvement and change. Habakkuk 2:2-3 says, “Write the vision and make it plain (clear) on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”

It is my prayer that we all run with this vision and grow together as a church. Jesus told us that he was building his church. (Matthew 16:18). The reason Jesus is building the church is given by Paul in Ephesians 2:19-22. “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together (by Christ) for a dwelling place of God in the spirit.”

The church is a dwelling place of God. Our focus this year is to make effort to be that “dwelling place of God!” The Greek word for this building process is “Oikodome” pronounced (oy-kod-om-ay). Our vision and focus this year is, “Oikodome!” This word has various aspects that make it very broad and far reaching. It is the same word as edification in the Bible. We will edify one another until we become that dwelling place of God. Oikodome also refers to spiritual advancement! God is a spirit and is looking for people who will worship him in spirit and in truth. As we spiritually advance we will become true worshippers of God.

This word also means promoting another’s growth in Christian wisdom and holiness. Oikodome also refers to constructive criticism and instruction that builds a person up to be a suitable dwelling place of God. That is our focus!

We want to be a church where God is at home and we will invest our time, our prayers, our study, our fellowship, our diligence towards this one thing. It’s our target and we will encourage one another this year until we are that church where God is at home! “Oikodome”

God bless you as you set yourself up to become a dwelling place of God.
